I've been too busy to blog in the past couple of weeks. That's what I tell myself. But surely, that is an excuse, because it only takes a few minutes to upload something, anything, about life at present.
Which is what I'm doing now.
I'm doing purely office-hours work now, mostly at a desk, which makes my days much easier to manage in terms of milk production. Oncalls are SO unfriendly to breastfeeding. Seriously.
Despite the easier time management for expressing milk, milk supply needs constant stimulation from a baby or else it dries up....real quick. Luckily there are a couple of physician tricks that bring it right back up......
The change in work practice also means that I get to dress just a tad more corporately, a far cry from the no-nonsense ready-for-sweat stuff that I used to wear. Luckily there's plenty that can be done with a few pieces and some imagination. In light of the economy, I haven't had the heart or the urge to shop at all!
Bean is such a little darling. She's chatting nineteen to the dozen now, in her cute little baby voice. Coos, giggles, squeals, babbles....and that little bright dimpled smile. Last night Hubby and I got home at half past midnight, but she's all that we needed to pick us up.
She's getting heavier and taller too.....right on target or perhaps a little more! About 8kg now, and >65cm tall - she's wearing a mixture of clothes meant for 6-monthers. Still waking me up at night to drink a little late night snack at about 3-4am, but by and large able to sleep well beside me.
We haven't moved her into her own cot/room yet, because I find that she sleeps a lot better when she's in our big bed, snuggled right next to my head. Hubby used to fret that I might accidentally roll over on her, but its actually physically impossible the way that I'm cuddling her. My arm just won't allow me to bend in a way that would smother her.
Just yesterday I took her to the paediatrician for a couple more jabs. The two little girls who went in before her both came out tearing, sniffling, and whining. Not my little monster. She screamed so loudly that people popped heads into the room to see what we were doing to her! She carried on being outraged that she had been stuck until I fed her in the nursing room there.
And all this in a cutesy little pink dress with frills and a tie-back waist, and little pink and gold pop-socks. Gah.
I'm taking her up to KL again this weekend - for another wedding. This time the couple are flying back from Beijing (she is Malaysian, he is Aussie) for this. We're flying this time, because Hubby's stuck in an army camp somewhere, pretending to repel invaders. Annie is all excited about travelling by air. She's already planned her wardrobe, so cute. Thinks that it's glamorous. I suppose it is, for a baby nigh on 5 months soon. CM will be there too. Can't wait to catch up with her.
Next month will be busy too. Le brother, he is getting hitched! And Bean will get to be the bearer of the rings.....and I get to be the bearer of the ringbearer!
