My fourth day back at work, and so far Bean has been a good little girl. We were initially a bit apprehensive that she was going to do marathon bawling while I was away, and would be difficult for Annie to handle, but she seems to know who's who by now. When I'm around, she wants me to carry her and will yell and cry until I hold her. However when she's alone with Annie, she understands that she's the only adult she's got to keep her mobile, and so doesn't complain.
Two days ago, Hubby's mum came over to play with her for a couple of hours. Bean has a DVD series for babies learning to recognise words (I kid you not, they start really young!) and her grandmother was suitably impressed by her aah-ing and ooh-ing in attempts to pronounce the syllables flashed.
Yesterday, Hubby's dad popped over, and he instead tried to carry her. Bad move. She felt unfamiliar arms wrap around her and yelled her little lungs out until he gave up trying to calm her down.
I haven't trained it out of her because I feel that it's good that she knows and identifies people. If someone were to try to take her away, she would scream for help immediately. Not only that, adults generally disrespect babies' personal space (c'mon, don't we all automatically pat them on the head or pinch their cheeks UNINVITEDLY) and she doesn't stand for that kind of nonsense, which I also feel is a good thing.
Tomorrow we're driving up to my folks' place. Also to attend the wedding of a Uni mate. Long time coming for this as well. Those two to-be-weds have been dating for 7 or more years.
